Gabriele Reuter and Mattef Kuhlmey (UK/GERMANY)

Gabriele Reuter is a choreographer, dancer and urbanist based in Berlin and Nottingham.

She studied Contemporary Dance and Arts Management in Leicester and London before creating her own works and collaborations since 2003. She has danced in the works of Rick Nodine, Frauke Requart, Sioned Huws, Christoph Winkler a.o.

At the heart of her own artistic practice and teaching is an ongoing interest in improvisation in performance and in this context she has collaborated and performed with many renowned artists across Europe as well as in Brazil and Chile. Her first solo Inventory/Räumung premiered 2008 at Nottdance Festival in Nottingham and was shown internationally.  She was one of Dance4’s Europe in Motion Artists at Springdance Festival Utrecht in 2009. The group piece Tourist was nominated for the Prix Jardin d’Europe 2010 at Idans Istanbul. Her performance evening Susi and Gabi’s Salon with Berlin-based artist Susanne Martin has been invited to festivals and performance series in Germany and the UK since 2011.

The sound installation Hidden Spaces #1: Sneinton & St. Ann's in September 2014 at Backlit Studios, Nottingham was her first collaboration with sound artist Mattef Kuhlmey and a new format to engage in the field of urban history/urban studies.

Mattef Kuhlmey is a sound designer, sound engineer, musician and composer. He has worked for a range of well-known choreographers in the German dance scene, including Constanza Macras, Helena Waldman, Twofish as well as the Salzburg Festival and Thalia Theater Hamburg. Mattef runs his own electronic music label (ALP) and has programmed music gigs and performances at club venues throughout Berlin, a.o. for Transmediale Festival. Mattef has been running workshops music and theatre workshops with young people in various contexts in Berlin, around Germany and Poland for over 15 years.
