'Gymnast' Goes National!

Bodies in Flight
GYMNAST, a collaboration between Bodies in Flight, film maker Tony Judge (Creative Forum) and Jen Bell (composer) and the Night Bus Choir has just gone national.

East Midlands based  International touring company, Bodies in Flight,  (choreographer Sara Giddens and writer Simon Jones) have built a reputation for inventive collaborations with sonic and visual artists and, through twenty years of rigorous and playful exploration with different disciplines, have a distinct style that fuses high-octane physicality, poetic text, live music and technology to make exhilarating, contemporary performance that moves and involves our audience-spectators.

Four of their films as part of a larger project made in gymnastics clubs across the region and set to bespoke lyrics, will be shown on the 22 Big Screens right across the UK from now until September with a footfall of well over 4 million. The Big Screens is a unique collaboration between the BBC, LOCOG and UK local authorities. Bodies in Flight are now planning the development of the live performance event that will take place in arts and sports spaces across the UK.

“Bodies in Flight is one of the most interesting performance companies operating in the UK at the moment.  Their work is always thoughtful … and genuinely pushes at the boundaries of stage conventions … as an on-going investigation into the very nature of interdisciplinary collaboration.”
