Summer 2018 Season Announced

Summer 2018 Season Announced

We've seen some sunshine, brochures have landed, and the summer 2018 programme is fully released! This season we invite you to join us for workshops, dance performances and much more...

Performances / Sharings

You can come to several performances this summer. We are welcoming back Dinis Machado to the East Midlands - don't miss his sharing of BARCO Dance Collection at Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester and his queer drag performance CONSUBSTANTIATION at the Backlit Gallery. In July, you can also see two pieces from Matthias Sperling's Loop Atlas series, II and IV if you visit The Gallery at De Montfort University.

We are happy to announce that Australian choreographer James Batchelor will hold an Open Studio Performance of HYPERSPACE at iC4C, and if you are an artist, you can join his Morning Classes while he is in residency with us.

The Sunday Supplement series continues with sharing of works-in-progress, discussions and breakfasts with a special edition event at the Derby Book Festival featuring Danni Spooner, and with Emma Lewis-Jones' Soft Edges - read more about her project here.

Don't miss our partnership events at Nottingham Lakeside Arts: The Princess & The Pea by Dybwikdans end of May, José Agudo's Silk Road in June, and Nilima Demi's The Plurality of Abhinaya in July.

Workshops / Classes

If you would like to work more closely with artists, we have a wide offer for you this summer, whatever your experience may be.

Join Emma Lewis-Jones for three guided walks through Nottingham's urban landscapes, or Florence Peake for a workshop where you'll explore the body and clay.

Sally Doughty invites artists to join her on a Score Sunday with Dinis Machado and one with Kimberley Harvey to explore the rationales and challenges of creating and using scores for choreographic material. Book for both events and you get a discount!

Artists are welcome to Dance4 Graduate Artist Bakani Pick-Up's Improvisation Workshop, a special event that also support our ongoing fundraising campaign. You can also book for James Batchelor's Morning Classes here.

Family / Wellness / Performance

We are getting closer to the much-awaited family fun day, Dance4 In the Park to take place on Saturday 28 July, that will bring interactive walks, bouncy castles, dance workshops, skaters to Sneinton's King Edward Park, with an exclusive highlight of synchronised lawn mowing extravaganza, The Wild Grass by Dog Kennel Hill Project.

To make this day happen, you can support our fundraising campaign by simply taking part in another event, such as Run a Mile on 12 May or an afternoon of meditation and wellness Woman:Kind Celebrating Mindful Living.

Young People / Learning

Our Centre for Advanced Training in dance programme continues it's fantastic work with young people, and this summer we can watch them performing alongside other youth dance groups of our region on Routes 2018, and then in August on their End of Year Performance. Auditions for the September intake are taking place on Saturday 1 July (don't forget to fill in the form!), and if your little one is too young to audition, you can bring to our regular Jump Start classes for 7-11 year olds.

We hope you like our brochure and we look forward to seeing you at iC4C or at one of our events this summer!
