eNGine Collective

eNGine Collective are currently working together on their first official project as a group, after forming in the summer of 2013. Here Hannah McBrien talks about eNGine Collective's new project.

"We decided we wanted to collaborate and perform together. 'Jam on a Tram' is a performance that will take place on the 5th July across the Tram network in Nottingham. We selected choreographer Sacha Copland Artistic Director of Java Dance Company based in New Zealand to take the lead on this project and to bring us together as a collective. Sacha will work with us for an intensive week leading up to the performances on the 5th July, until she is with us in person we have been beginning the work via skype and video recordings.

Last week we got started in the studio, although many of us have worked together before on various projects this was the first time all of us had come together as one group.
We worked through a series of video tasks devised by Sacha, recording our movement and improvisations to send back in response, beginning the dialogue and creative process. It was a great chance for us to improvise and experiment with our various styles, and for Sacha it provides a flavour of the Collective and what we are about.
We enjoyed our time together, full of dancing, creativity and laughter, it will be great to work together for an intensive week in July and I look forward to other possibilities beyond 'Jam on a Tram'."
