In Happy Piece Miguel will propose dance as an activity of thinking and reflection but also of sharing; returning it to the people, to the community, and demystifying the enlist character often associated with dance as an artistic activity.
A dance that serves to celebrate, to unite us, to experience sensations beyond the rational.
Miguel will work with a mixed group of performancers; 5 professionals and 5 amateurs, bridging the worlds of the professional field of dance, as an artisitc discipline, and a performance made by those who practice it as a hobby or for pure pleasure.
These two worlds collaborate and collide to reveal a happy experience. And the participating bodies are revealed as an instrument of communication and the expression of an inner world.
With Happy Piece Miguel continues research he has been developing since 2010 with groups of amateurs from different artistic areas. To date this has resulted in two works: My name is Georgeanne (2011) premiered at Festival Materials Diversos/Minde/Portugal; and Opus 49 (2012) premiered at Maria Matos Teatro Municipal/Lisboa/Portugal and co-produced by Dance4, presented at Nottdance Festival 2013, Nottingham.
Miguel is a regular collaborator with Dance4.
