As part of a creative residency at iC4C and Nottingham Playhouse to research new work WASTELAND, a sequel to the award winning COAL, acclaimed choreographer Gary Clarke will be opening professional morning class for professional dance practitioners.

Led by Gary Clarke as well as members of Gary Clarke Company, the class will include a variety of styles and genres throughout the residency and will last for approximately 1 hour.

Gary’s class moves freely between influences from Yoga, Cunningham, Limon, Release and Improvisation based techniques. The class begins slowly with an emphasis on adequately preparing the body for movement, and then moves on to an eclectic mix of physical investigations and expansive movement phrases that focus on the general alignment of the body, the articulation of the spine and developing a solid core centre for movement.

Gary Clarke is currently regarded as one of the UK's leading independent dance artists who has worked with some of the worlds most prolific companies and choreographers including; Lea Anderson's The Cholmondeleys & The Featherstonehaughs, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, Lloyd Newson's DV8 Physical Theatre and Liv Lorent's balletLORENT. Gary is currently touring COAL, winner of the UK Theatre Awards for Achievement in Dance and The Critics Circle National Dance Award which is coming to Nottingham Playhouse on the 19 and 20 June 2017.
