Nottingham Playhouse & Dance4 Host Gathering
In recognition of the under representation of D/deaf and disabled people throughout our industry Dance4 and Nottingham Playhouse have joined forces to host Gathering, a networking event for D/deaf and/or disabled people engaging in choreography or theatre as a performer, director, musician, film maker or writer, both recreationally or professionally.
The evening will include a performance from original member of Candoco Dance Company’s Kimberley Harvey; who will perform an exert from her solo piece Inky Matter.
The purpose of the evening is to engage D/deaf or/and disabled artists, listen and plan how we build a network together to support and enrich the work that D/deaf and disabled artists do in the region.
Gathering will take place on Tuesday 14th November at Dance4's iC4C, 2 Dakeyne Street, Nottingham NG3 2AR. iC4C is purposely developed to ensure the correct conditions for creativity to flourish, inspiring the very best artists to come and work in Nottingham. iC4C aims to provide accessible facilities so artists with disabilities can develop their choreographic practice, teaching and research in the best possible environment.
Agent for Change, Ramps On The Moon, at Nottingham Playhouse Laura Guthrie said: “We know there are disabled creatives in our region, but we also know there are few opportunities for us to gather together and find out what everyone is doing, to talk about possible collaborations and to shout about the fact that disabled creatives can and are producing work of high quality both within the Disability Arts field and in the non disabled sector too. The Gathering is very informal and I hope the start of more platforms for disabled creatives.”
