East Midlands Artists Take Over

East Midlands Artists Take Over

Earlier this year we sent a call out for East Midlands based artists to present as part of our Sunday Supplement programme.

Dance4 recognises the importance of investing in the early stages of artistic work and wanted to specifically focus on some of the great talent within the region. This Sunday (25 March) we'll be doing just that, at our Sunday Supplement. We have had 3 selected artists / groups in residence at Dance4’s international Centre for Choreography (iC4C) this week.

On Tuesday...

...we were joined by Near Miss Company – Louisa Robey, Shannon Coote and Lee Allatson who are based in Nottingham/Leicester. They have been working on sections from their piece ‘RISK’, this work looks to explore relationships between improvised movement and sound. The two performers cooperate, compete and challenge one another through a collection of improvisation-based scores and games, established spontaneously in the performance by both players.

On Wednesday...

...we were joined by Derbyshire based Artist Jake Bradnock who is working on a couple of solos that have originally been devised outdoors. He has been exploring the movement in the setting of the studio and developing what he will share on Sunday.

On Thursday...

...we were joined by Leicester based Scarlett Turner on Thursday, working on a solo; ‘Come As You Are’, a piece that explores gender neutrality, obscure sexuality, personal identity, and self struggles of gender stereotypes, non-binary and pansexual identity.

Today...

...we have all of them in the studio along with Dance4’s Graduate Dance Artist, Bakani Pick-ip; sharing their practice and supporting one another as they prepare for Sunday.

Here they are sitting down to lunch with some of the Dance4 team.

If you want to come along Sunday don’t forget to book your FREE ticket.
