Welcome to nottdance08
nottdance is our annual international festival of experimental dance and performance.
Taking place from 17 - 26 October, nottdance08 has given Dance4 the opportunity to create an exciting festival that allows us to work with audiences, young people and artists in a completely new way. In planning for this year’s nottdance we decided to try something new. We have decided to let others make many of the choices, in terms of the content of the festival. From asking artists to be curators, to asking audience panels to select the work that they thought should be in the festival, to asking artists to share their own choices in the actual making of work during an improvisation evening.
With this in mind, nottdance08 features innovative performances
in venues in and around Nottingham (including a Top Secret City Centre
Store, along with our first ever opportunity to break geographic confines
and visit
London with our partners Siobhan Davies Dance Studios PLUS fascinating
insights into artists at sharing events, symposiums and improvised
performances.
nottdance08 is former director Nicky Molloy’s last festival as Artistic
Director following 3 years with Dance4. The board and team thank her
for her commitment to the organization throughout her leadership and in particular,
for programming another very exciting festival.
