Nicola Chambers was the overall winner in the dance category and reflects on how gaining the award has continued to develop her as a dance artist below:
Nicola Chambers Award Winner Dance Category 2013
'I felt honoured to have received a Young Creative Dance Award in 2013, after winning the award I received an £100 cheque, which I chose to help towards my progression in inclusive dance practice by putting the money towards my Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning course fees.
Since winning the Young Creative Award I feel that I have received high recognition for my work in inclusive dance and had the chance of network with new circles of people from the dance field.
Recently I received a letter from the Queens representative in Nottinghamshire to congratulate myself on my achievements with the award; this was a great surprise letter and something to keep in my record of achievements and update to my dance CV.'
Applications for entries are open now and close on 24 March 2014.
Winners in each category will be invited to an award presentation evening at the Royal Concert Hall on 19 May 2014.
