In these sessions, Alexandra will open up her practice to local artists, leading participants through aspects of her own research, leaving room for participants to pursue their own curiosities in a supportive environment. Alexandra is particularly interested in conditioning alertness to physical possibilities.
These sessions are aimed at dance artists/practitioners who are developing their own artistic practice.
Sessions are free, but contact us to confirm your place to Helen Willmott on 0115 941 0773 or via helen@dance4.co.uk.
QUAKE
It’s taken a few days, but the dust has finally settled after the shiver and quiver that was QUAKE10. Dance4 and Déda’s platform was yet another huge success which brought a whole host of work from regional, national and international artists to the East Midlands.
Those lucky enough to grab themselves tickets had the chance to see a wide variety of new and exciting dance and performance work that took place not just in the theatre space, but also in both dance studios, the café and all the places in between.
The evening also allowed the audience the opportunity to grab a sneak peak at work still in development and included demonstrations and talks from choreographers, clips of film and rehearsal footage as well as samples of music, costume and lighting.
QUAKE10 invited the audience to explore, question and celebrate what dance is and that is exactly what happened with a diverse and varied programme that kept everyone on their toes, quite literally as they were encouraged to move around the building. Some very interesting conversations took place throughout the evening and well into the night. All in all another successful Dance4 and Déda event! Thanks to all who came along.
TEN
Hetain Patel will be presenting a preview of new live work TEN, produced by Dance4 at IF: Milton Keynes International Festival on Sunday 18 July.
Somewhere between Bolton, Barbados, Scotland and India three men, Hetain, Mark and Dave, make a journey of discovery. Taking music and the Indian ten-beat rhythm cycle as a starting point, this performance delves with endearing honesty and humour into the usually dry questions of cultural identity.
