Young Creative Awards Nottingham 2016

Celebrating talented young people in the arts
Young Creative Awards Nottingham provides an exciting opportunity for young people living, studying or working in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to be acknowledged for their artistic talents, gain industry contacts and benefit from cash prizes.

Young Creative Awards (YCA) Nottingham's vision for the awards is to develop and support young creative talent in the city, put young people in Nottingham on the creative map and make Nottingham a world-class creative hub.

YCA Nottingham are passionate about the creativity of young people and want to encourage and nurture their talent, helping them to find opportunities, get noticed and open doors to successful careers in the arts.

There are many different categories within the awards, full details of which can be found on YCA Nottingham's website. Young People can apply for one or more category if they wish.

Dance4 is delighted to again be working in partnership with Nottingham City Care Partnership to co-sponsor the Dance category.

Each year YCA Nottingham has a different theme and this year's theme is Goals and Dreams. Entrants are encouraged to be as creative, unique, experimental and expressive as possible within their category of choice, based around the theme.  The theme can be intepreted in any way you wish but applicants must reference this in their applications and explain how thier work connects to the theme to be considered for an award.

There are three age categories for each award which are:

  • 13 – 15 years old
  • 16 – 18 years old
  • 19 – 24 years old

Entries are judged by a panel of experts who select both those who are Highly Commended and Award Winners in each age and art form category. Following selection of each categories' winners, the judging panels meet collectively to choose one overall YCA Nottingham Winner for 2016.

Winners are given opportunities to connect with industry experts, profile thier work and benefit from a cash prize.

YCA applicants will be invited to an awards ceremony held at Nottingham Playhouse on Wednesday 18 May 2016, which is a celebratory evening where awards are given for each category. Young people attending the ceremony get the chance for their work to be acknowledged in front of an audience made up of creative industry experts, friends and family and other young creatives from Nottingham.
